Funny Kids!

If Santa had a baby,

this little man would be it! Lincoln after eating vanilla ice cream..

Carter played XBOX at a friends house and I was asking him about what game he played. He kept refering to the poeple on the game as the yellow family. I had no idea who he was referring to. But come to find out it was a Simpson's game! I thought it was clever of him to call them the yellow family... course I am not 100% sure I want him playing an XBOX game.

Carter, Ella and I were at the grocery store when walking down the isle we passed a man with a rather large belly. Ella stuck her finger out and poked the man in the belly when we passed- he was turned sideways, so his frontside was easily accessible to us. I was sooo embarassed!!! I appologzied as we passed!

Playing Conference Bingo with Ella and Carter!

Matt and the kids watching conference from the most

comfy chair in the house!!

This weekend was the wonderful conference weekend, as channel 5 constantly referred to it! We actually watched about 95% of it which is unusual for us because we normally watch all on Sun. but it is hit and miss on Sat. But Sat. it rained all day and so we just stayed in and enjoyed watching conference. I always enjoy conference and get stuff out of it, but this session for me was especially good. I really felt after watching it that I was rejuvenated and spiritually uplifted. It provided my with peace and the desire to be better. I really liked what president Monson said on Sunday morning in his talk about not waiting till tomorrow to do things. I feel like I do that all the time with the kids because they are so little, that I think ok- I will do _____ when they get older, or that I can really do or enjoy this or that when they are in school or 10 years from now. I have a hard time living for today, but his talk, while it made me feel guilty, but in a good way cause it made me want to try harder and do better. I also love the feeling that I had that I, and those who are related to me, or go to church with me, are not the only ones trying to do what is right and live better. But that there is a whole 13 million people across the world who are striving to be more Christ-like. It really made me feel at peace. I am grateful for that twice yearly spiritual grounding and recentering.

THE Mogenhan's

After applying enough guilt, I got my parents convinced to come and hang out with us for an late afternoon/evening during their trip to Vegas this week. So they spent 6 hours in the car yesterday, just to get here, and arrived in their very, Vegas Red Cadillac at about 4. Pat showed up at about 5:30 after stopping at the store for me and the party began- with Matt arrival at 5:30 and Stephanie's and Mary Beth's at 6:45- after they got off work. The only Mogenhan's we were missing were Ian, LeighAnn, and Xanthan. Everyone played outside while the preparing for dinner was going on- hence the crazy pics. We barbecued out hamburgers and I made a few salads and such. It was a lot of fun. At 7 the tv went on so we could all watch Sarah Palin whoop Biden's pathetic tail in the debates. And as it got later in the evening we kept getting louder and louder, especially as we held our own debate with everyone talking/debating/arguing with Patrick, the only Obama supported in the house(thank goodness). Eventually no one was watching the debate because we couldn't hear it. I suppose that is what happens when you get all of us together and also have my kids eat a ton of candy while they frosted and decorated their own sugar cookies. Poor Stephanie, when asked why she was so quiet, said, "How can I top all this?" Isn't family great!

Princess Ella and her Loyal Subjects!!!

Ella's birthday was on the 22nd and so the Saturday prior we had her a little birthday party. We made our little invites and asked that all the guests come dressed as princesses. Ella was very excited about the party, but I don't think she quite understood what was going to happen. (Carter did have his party a few weeks early, so she did hear a lot about parties, but she did not attend his, anyways.....) So, of course the day of her party she refused to wear her princess dress and I wasn't going to force it on her. She at least dressed in a cute church dress of hers. She had 3 little friends over- Kate, Helen, and Emma and her aunt Stephanie came too. We made crowns, and played, "Pin the Crown on the Princess", which actually didn't go over too well. Ella refused to put the blindfold on and the other girls did it very hesitantly. And for the last game we found bracelets that were scattered all over the back yard, cause you know that every princess needs bracelets. While I was prepaing the pink frosted cupcakes and pink ice cream, Matt helped the girls get their grove on(probably not an appropriate expression for 3 years olds, eh?) in the family room with some fun music. Besides opening presents, this little impromtu activity may have been the girls favorite thing to do. By the way, can you guess what Ella's favorite color is? And then we opened presents! Or course this was Ella's favorite part. After an hour the girls went home with a goodie bag, a pink balloon and hopefully a fun memory- And Matt and I then spent the rest of the afternoon laying around on the couch- Matt watching golf, me sleeping and recovering from the party and all that blasted prep work!

Our Soccer Experience

So Carter has been on a soccer team this fall, which has been fun and interesting. He enjoys it, it seems, but has no desire to practice outside of scheduled practices, which occur once a week. And on game day he seems more interested in the drink I brought him and roughhousing with his teammates than playing the game. Which might help explain why his team got beat like 15- 0 last Sat. Not that is all Carter's fault, and some games have been closer, althought I don't think we have actually won any, but I also don't think anyone really keeps score. But it does seem like at 4 and 5 years old, most of his teammates have to be brided to be out there playing. Maybe that is why he could care less? Maybe we should sweeten the deal? However, I don't think we will be doing that. It is enjoyable to spend at least an hour out in the nice fall weather and cheer on Carter to victory? Or at least not a tail whoopping! Hey, he did score a goal 2 Saturday's ago!

I obviously haven't written since I think May.... But I am recommitting myself to this thing! I have been fiddling with it over the day and am trying to figure out how to do stuff. So we will see. Matt and I are becoming members of the 21st century... he got us a myspace page, but then realized that is the page for kids and that facebook is the one we should be on. We will see. So I think while Matt is out visiting the birth of our Great-newphew, Jack, (nothing, by the way, makes you feel more old than saying you are a great aunt!!!) I will update this thing with some posts, although most will be about events from a few weeks ago- I only downloaded the camara yesterday, so maybe that makes it more current?

The last Sunday in Boise

Oohhh... my heart is breaking. It is our last sunday in Boise. And of course yesterday was our last Sat. in Boise. It is soo sad. I am going to miss it so much. I just love our ward! I love the city and Carter's school. I love the farmer's market and love, love, love the greenbelt.

And I think the thing I am going to miss the most in Boise is a tie between our friends the Ahlstroms and our Neighborhood, which are close to the same. We live on the most wonderful cul-de-sac with so many kids, who are just good, kind kids. Carter is going to miss all his friends and being able to run around from house to house like a crazy person. And I am going to miss the security I feel having him do it. There is a lot of kids in our new neighborhood, so I pray it is the same, but every nieghborhood is different and parents let there kids do different things, so who knows what it is really like. But I am going to miss it all. And I am going to miss the Ahlstroms! I hope we are life long friends with them. I love Krissy. I love having someone around I have no inhibitions around. Who I feel completely comfortable with and know will be honest. Having that kid of friend who lives just down the street I think is rare!

Boise will always hold a special place in Matt and I's heart. We will look at the time here in high regard. We hope we will be able to come and visit when Matt has to come up for meetings!
I am trying to psych myself up for this week as I have a lot to do... mostly cleaning. Last week was a lazy, crudy week, so I hope this one will be more productive and although stressful hopefully I will keep my head about me. I am going to need to be productive, as I have a whole house to clean before Thursday comes and we leave.

I do think we have a nice house in Utah. And so far everyone has been so kind in our neighborhood. We have met almost all our immediate neighbors and someone left us brownies and our next door neighbor is watering our lawn for us, which is just nice of them. The Beavins, our best friends from KY, are moving in the community too and so it will be soo fun to have them so close. They have helped us out a ton already and I am so grateful for them. I think it will be good in Utah, but I have to say I don't know if it is going to be as wonderful as it has been here in Boise. Urg... those winter's alone make me shiver.

And I am excited and a little stressed about all the stuff we want and need to d to the house. I think it will be good- finally make some place our own- its only about time, but it will take a lot of work and I have to say renting has allowed us to just be lazy with doing stuff with our yard and house. It will be good, I know... but work.... I have totally gotten lazy obviously!

We did have our going away party at the Ahlstrom's on Friday night, which was fun. The most important poeple came, but not nearly as many as were invited, but that is okay too. We just mostly hung out, talked and ate, which was fine by me. It was kinda surreal thinking about how in a week they were all going to still be here, but how we weren't. And that they were potentially all going to get to become better friends and we were not going to be a part of it. The ward has been kinda like that too. I have felt outside of it all...with one foot in the door and the other out of it too. I am bad at good-bye's too, so that part has been difficult- what does one say, honestly?

Well, I am going to miss Boise. It is truly bittersweet moving. I am interested in seeing what our callings are going to be in our new ward since we will actual be permanate residents there hopefully we will more fulfilling callings than activities commitee and such. We will see.

On a side note, I know I haven't posted for two weeks- I don't know if this blog thing is going to work out for me. I know some poeple post daily, or every other day, at least. I think I am going to try for weekly! We will see.

Our internet is going to be turned off on Tues, so I suppose I will write next in our new home, which is just sad!!! Oh... how I am going to miss this place- well not our actualy house, but being here.. in Boise. Who knew Boise would be so wonderful? Well, know we know.. And I am grateful we have found out.
